YouTube, the most popular online video sharing community came to an agreement with EMI Group. According to this agreement viewers will have a chance to see their fave singers and bands like Coldplay, David Bowie, Gorillaz, Lily Allen, Norah Jones and Fat Boy Slim.
Does it lead to any relevant chops and changes? YouTube is going to improve the quality of all the stuff on the site?! I’m not sure.
Viewership will able to watch professionally produced videos and user-generated content featuring EMI music, San Bruno.
By the way, YouTube already teamed with Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group Corp. These four music giants signed agreements to cooperate with YouTube before it was bought by Google last year.
“It’s good to be legal and not have to worry about these issues,” said Michael Gartenberg, an analyst at JupiterResearch in New York. “For them to offer this content is yet another reason for users to go to the site.”
Basically, Google and EMI will develop a business model for music videos featured in user-generated content.
“Through this agreement EMI Music and its artists will be fairly compensated,” EMI Chief Executive Officer Eric Nicoli said in the statement.
Eric Nicoli, CEO of EMI Group, said: “Working with YouTube under this agreement meets EMI’s objectives to offer consumers the best possible entertainment experiences, to create new ways to connect our artists to fans and to enter into innovative business models that will generate revenues for our business and our creators. Through this agreement EMI Music and its artists will be fairly compensated for their work.”
