AmuseLine: online videos and webTV

YouTube banned in several countries at present

Funny thing is that so many countries have already banned this online service. There can be various untied reasons.

Recentle YouTube was banned in Marocco (on Friday). Some folks think of Vietnam as the next country that could block the site.

Make sure you keep in mind how Thailand banned YouTube?! Thai telecom authorities blocked video-sharing website YouTube from the country because the site offered a 44-second slide show containing defaced photos of the country’s revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

What else? Earlier this year Turkey also banned an access to this site. Turk Telecom implemented tha ban after an escalating dispute between Greek and Turkish users of the site.

And it must be devoted some attention to China. China’s official Xinhua news agency reported that the country would “issue new regulations against Web sites which broadcast short films without state permission,” citing the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, or Sarft, as its source.

Needless to say, YouTube is also banned on military computers and for US military in general. Strange enough? Can it be wondered then?!

The spokesman for US Strategic Command and Joint Task Force-Global Network Operations said: “As these sites have become more and more popular, they’ve had an impact on bandwidth resources and network availability and we’re having to restrict use of some of them.”

I would be interested to know which country is the next to ban the site? I suppose less developed countries have the chances are better than even!
