Watch Futurama Online: Welcome Back Futurama & The Simpsons!
Recently I was surprised to know that the popular cartoon series Futurama is returning
to TV with new episodes in 2008 on Comedy Central. Together with Bender’s Big Score we will see other more adult themed cartoon shows like The Simpsons (released this summer already), Ren and Stimpy, and Family Guy.
Matthew Abram Groening, an American cartoonist and television producer, we have to thank you for birth of The Simpsons and co-creation of Futurama. According to Groening, the animator decided to create something new and came up with a cartoon family, the Simpsons and named the members after his own family, except Bart, which was an anagram of the word brat.
What about Fox network? Why Fox changed their plans and attitude to Futurama? Creators of the cartoon Bender’s Big Score blamed Box (aka Fox) network for a 5 years brake in an indirect way. Check in out in Bender’s Big Score. And now Fox released a whole lot of animated cartoons. Futurama came back with the release of Bender’s Big Score, a straight-to-DVD movie (release date: 27 November 2007).
According to iF, it’s a great ride for the legend of animation Matt Groening who is shepherding The Simpsons Movie into cinemas on July 27 as well as brand new episodes of his cult series Futurama which was unceremoniously cancelled by Fox.
iF: You have said in the past that Fox always loved THE SIMPSONS, but when FUTURAMA was on the network, they always treated it as a bastard step-child. How do you feel now going into this new venture with FUTURAMA?
GROENING: What’s really fun, is every single person who worked on the original show was eager to come back. The entire original cast Katey Sagal, Billy West, John Di Maggio, Maurice LaMarche. They all came on board. The same animation house Rough Draft is back and the same animators are too. And the one’s who didn’t come back, wished they could. We really felt good about that. It was really fun. It was always the underdog show and everybody who worked on it, loved it, so it’s great to come back.
There will be 16 new episodes and four direct-to-DVD movies of Futurama at once on Comedy Central: Bender’s Big Score, The Beast with a Billion Backs, Bender’s Game and Into the Wild Green Yonder.
