Watch Movies Online vs. Go to the Movies

What kind of consuming activity do you preffer better? Watching TV shows, movies, surfing the web in searching of short-length video clips sitting before a computer? Quite possible. If the weather is fine, you never waste your time doing this leisure activity. Yeah, you’d better go to the cinema with your friends or a close friend and spend this time together having fun.

MPAA considers all of the copurighted movies or videos pirates as thieves, i.e. people get rid of a habit to go to the cinema. I disagree with this statement, because I see how many youngsters (who in their turn are really smart to steal movies from the web insensibly) like going to the movies.

The MPAA and many theater owners are still confused and have actually made the situation worse by treating the customers like criminals. But if they provide a good entertainment experience (which includes making high-quality films), people will keep coming.

Watch Movies Online vs. Go to the MoviesThe RIAA also claiming that the freely available music online means that night clubs will have to shut down because no one would ever go out to a club again. They really believe thet people go there to listen to the music? No, they hang out. It’s the same way to spend free time doing odds and ends.

It’s interesting enough that box office takes and theater admissions increased last year, despite all the commercials you see at the movie theaters about how you’re helping to put that poor set designer out of business. Much of that increase came from overseas, mainly in countries known for their lax intellectual property protection - where you can often buy DVDs of the movies before they’re even released in the theaters.

Downloading vids from the video sharing sites and box-office slumps are unrelated phenomena. In other words, the recent bad box-office years have been driven by crummy movies, not piracy.

It doesn’t mean what kind of leisure activity we choose. Going to the cinemas as well as watching movies in front of PCs don’t require any great amount of intellectual or mental acitivity. We fritter away our time on trifles. But sometimes it is worthy, especially if these or those movies or video clips are of high quality.
