Walt Disney: Disney TV shows on Web In the foreseeable future Walt Disney Co. is going to raise its popularity and revise its stand on the net. It means that local affiliate television stations embrace the concept of TV shows on the internet. It will be possible to watch live TV shows broadcasts on your PC. The company's task enables to increase its reach into non-traditional viewing.
Anne Sweeney, co-chair of Disney Media Networks, told that Disney's ABC Television Network's ad-supported broadband player sold out its advertising space for the first and second quarters of this year. Through this player audience can watch episodes of prime time shows on web.
Some of ABC affiliates are anxious of the player, which would cut into local ad revenue, and in its turn, Disney's ABC Television Network's wants to incorporate local ads into the Web programming.
The players pros:
- player includes expanded national news and local content later this year
- allows viewers to adjust the picture size and bandwidth
- receives more than 50 millions episodes
This summer, ABC.com also will launch an expanded site for "America's Funniest Home Videos" to allow viewers to upload their own home videos and search among those videos and others featured on the show. It reminds me of some well-known web media sites like Youtube, that is worthy of notice, because people all over the world cluster together and watch and/or download collected videos.
The company is ready to do anything to compete with proliferous multicultural world and against multinational corporations for paradise apple, choosing a pro-consumer way in order to win the affection of viewers.
"We have to use it to ... move product to the consumer on a well-timed, well-priced basis," said Chief Executive Robert Iger.
