The point is Maggie, Lisa and Bart have no hair line. Thus yellow color creates a vision that both hair and skin are yellow. Otherwise it would look like a sawed line. The idea of Marge’s blue colors also belongs to the color stylist. Maybe she wanted Marge not to stand out of the whole extraordinary family yet having something special. Later on he passed over to black paper and did not enjoy the result. That is why he kept on using yellow color.
Another curious fact is why the Simpsons have only four fingers? If you can draw and is aware of the basic drawing techniques, you are supposed to know that fingers are the most difficult part of a body to reproduce it on paper. If cartoonists draw all five fingers, the process slows down. Besides, a hand looks quite large and disproportional. So the Explanation is very easy.
