Do you know that glaciers cover almost 10 percent of the planet? In the period of Ice Age, this amount was three times more – one third of planet’s surface. What is no less essential, glaciers are the biggest reservoirs of fresh water on the Earth. They are supposed to contain 75 percent of the whole amount. So, they are not only powerful but also essential and useful for the humanity.

But if glaciers are to melt entirely, what would happen. According to the data presented by the U.S. Geological Service, it would lead to sea level rising significantly. The question is it possible, I suppose we, our children and grandchildren can leave with no worry. For their awesome power can testify the fact that one glacier ice crystal can have dimensions of a ball. By the way, just in Alaska there are over 100,000 glaciers. In general, they are located in 47 countries of the Earth. Impressive numbers! I swear few of you know that even Africa has its own glacier. In spite of equator location Mount Kilimanjaro can boast of being covered with glacier. Well, what can be more curious and unpredictable that Mother nature, but precisely that is why the best minds of the mankind try to solve its mystery.
