The World Football Cup 2010 is in its full swing. South Africa is receiving thousands of guests all over the world from June 11th to July 11th. The tournament is the culmination of a qualification process that began in August 2007 and involved 204 of the 208 national teams. If you did not manage to get tickets for it, do not be upset and join football fans that enjoy the event on the Internet and TV. By the way, the World Cup is supposed to be one of the most watched events ever. That is why I suggest that we enjoy some moments of the tournament one more time.
Yesterday, two awesome matches took place on South African stadiums. Japan played against Cameroon and managed to win 1:0. Samuel Eto’o, Cameroon’s captain, had a quiet half, although the couple of occasions he did get on the ball brought the promise something might happen. The constant noise inside the stadium rose when after eight minutes the Inter Milan forward delivered a scare for Japan’s defense, freeing Pierre Webo on the right side of the penalty box but his intended cutback to Eric Choupo Moting was cleared. And the second time when Makoto Hasebe drew a low save from Souleymanou Japan absorbed the pressure.
In the second match held yesterday met Netherlands with Denmark. The score, as you must know, is 2:0. After two off-target kicks from Thomas Enevoldsen and Wesley Sneijder the score was opened 20 minutes after opening. Then the Dutch took the lead again, but Simon Poulsen headed the ball into their own net. The Danes nearly self-destructed again four minutes later when a misplaced pass allowed Van Persie a clear sight of goal, but the Arsenal forward hesitated and Sorensen smothered bravely. That is sport, and everything is possible here. So let’s wait and see.
