We live in a highly developed and civilized world where people tend to globalization and community of everything. That is how I thought till recent times when I saw by chance statistics and facts about slavery in our modern civilized world. I would like to share the information with you so that you could figure out what is going on in reality.
Talking about the issue politicians make an emphasis on defense of human rights, but figures testify the contrary. According to the UN Declaration about Human Rights “slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms”, but in fact the number of people in slavery is significantly larger than at any other time during the history. Their number is estimated to be over 27 million.

Another shocking fact is that today the value of slaves has lowered. Let’s compare the year 1850 when a slave cost about $ 40,000 and the current days when an average enslaved person cost about $ 90. When children are sold, the price goes down to $ 10 and lower.
Apart from a widespread illusion that there is no slavery in the U.S., it is known that over 17,000 enslaved people are brought in the country annually.
The Government tries to distract attention of the society from the problem. I wonder that they invent dozens of denominations such as forced labor, trafficking, or forced marriage for what is a pure slavery in reality.

Such organizations as Free the Slaves put their heart in the issue trying to find the best and the quickest solution. But they admit that the problem will be difficult to end it up. It might take about a quarter of a century for it. And that will happen only on the condition that all of us will contribute to it. So, it is high time to start thinking about it and doing our best.
