History of Music Video Production
Music video clips are simply videos made to accompany a piece of music that is more typically a song.
The history of music video production has been vivid and impressive. It counts about a century not a little you think but not at all a lot if we compare a century with millions years our planet has already seen.
In 1940s the world saw the advent of one-song films that were called “Soundies”. So as these were short movies that accompanied a song and lasted for several minutes almost like our today’s videos but surely not exactly.
Before 1940s there were some attempts to create stuff like that but it all was a bit different. These were movies built around music. Walt Disney did so, he created his cartoons in such a way in 1930s.
It is believed by many that it was disk jockey-singer J.P.”The Big Bopper” Richardson who said the phrase “music video” first in 1959.
In 1961 Ozzie Nelson filmed a video for his son Ricky Nelson to accomplish a song “Travelin’ Man”. The viewers who watched the video could see the pictures of different parts of the world and the singer on the foreground. This video is thought to be the first rock music video clip.
However these videos were not full-color and such a video appeared in 1962 and that was the video of The Exciters on their song Tell him. This clip determined in some way the development of the industry.
And it is difficult not to mention Beatles’ A Hard Day’s Night that became the defining video in the history of music video production.

If in the beginning this was new and exciting and what counted was the result that had to impress the viewers now it is much more simply and trivial. Surely the videos are more quality but they are created to make the entertainer popular. We see a video that we enjoy from the artist we didn’t hear of and than we get the album that can turn out to be less great than that very video.
