How many video sites-clones you come across on the web every day? What is the trend? By the way, clone is a stuff that possess a function that duplicates an object.
Usually clones resemble a well-known, popular brand not only in functions and design, but mimic the name. For example, Adidas can looked like Adibos, Abidas, Daiads or Panasonic - Penesamig, Panasonyc.
Today I’m talking about YouTube clones which in one or another way try to copy and duplicate this video sharing community somehow. Why do these clones imitate? Is it flattery or jealousy? Or they just like this catchy title!
Have a look! These “tubes” can be of various online video subjects: general videos, religion, porno, etc. These “tubes” multiply in different countries. Moreover, all of them have one thing in common: they try to reconstitute the factors that made YouTube the number one, then market their site to a niche audience looking for something more focused.
- Religion (Christian) “tubes” try to attain both the faithful and agnostics.
GodTube is the latest creature. It hosts Christian videos of all types, attracting more than 600,000 unique visitors a month. “GodTube utilizes Web based technology to connect Christians for the purpose of encouraging and advancing the Gospel worldwide.”
GospelTube is a Christian video sharing community that allows visitors to watch and share Christian and Gospel videos worldwide through a web experience.
- Porno (video) “tubes” are widely spread on the web.
Mostly they include user-generated content. It’s the era of free online video, that’s why the audience itself uploads and shares video, audio and media content in general.
Perhaps the most important point, however, is that in some way porno industry is interested in making the sex-related clones that bears “tube” and “you” names.
Pornotube is an innovative sex-related clone (YouTube’s strict policy on adult content provided the perfect opportunity for PornoTube) as well as XTube and YouPorn (a pornographic version of YouTube, not work safe, but no adult material on the frontpage). Their functionality is vivid. Be warned that these sites are NSFW.
- Foreign countries’ “tubes”.
RuTube. It’s a Russian YouTube. This country can’t answer for the consequences of plagiarism, i.e. fip off. Cold war does not count. The Russians differ from other peoples with the only difference that they terrifically want to make money for nothing. It has plenty of weird Russian and world material.
Tubedesi.com, tumtube.com, apnatube.com are Indians clones. It’s not a full list of them. Apparently, you can see a naked eye that Indian clones usually don’t mimic YouTube name.
MyVideo is a South African YouTube clone, etc.
You can’t imagine how many these clones-sites are. If you want to rate the various “tubes”, rate some of them on TopTubes.
Point out that Youtube platform is easy-to-imitate. If you want a youtube clone, video streaming site or video-sharing community like YouTube, MySpace, etc. call in here.
In conclusion, I would say that online video is hot, and you can judge that from the growth of cloning and imitation. It’s fair to say that the video-sharing and aggregating is the hottest thing on the web today. Check Alexa ranking out, it’ll confirm evidence. Who could have imagined some years ago that such a site like YouTube could be so symbolic as to encourage Christian, foreigners, and porno imitators. YouTube has no a specific model, but they achieved much success.
