In spite of the fact that well-known online video-sharing service is under a ban in a number of countries, others condemn their actions and bring an action against the owners, it keeps on gaining its popularity. Anyway, amateurs and just addicted to video guys enable to watch free videos online owing to YouTube, Dailymotion, Revver, Google, iMovie, etc.
Since YouTube came into existence, folks used to download and upload short-length films of poor quality. On the one hand, it’s an opportunity to watch and save free videos if one has a slow traffic speed (dial-up connection), and scanty storage capacity. There are a great many the like services online, but YouTube was bought by Google and it has played its part.
But there’re some cons: video quality can be a critical moment. If you adore watching free videos online via your mobile, Apple iPhone, iPod, Nintendo Wii, cameras, etc., it doesn’t concern you.
As for me, any movie is a treat for the eye on wide big screens accompanied proper sound. YouTube and Google offer full length movies. Next in turn is to make the video quality better. HDTV! And what about Blu-ray?
The official YouTube blog:”You may have noticed that we’re now giving you the option of watching some YouTube videos in higher quality. We’re making these streams available on certain videos, based upon the source file uploaded to us, and over time you’ll find a greater percentage of the library is available to view in higher quality. This feature applies to all eligible videos uploaded from the YouTube community, and is not restricted to partner content, so everyone can enjoy this upgrade.
How do you watch higher quality videos? On your Account page you’re now able to choose “always show me higher quality when available” or “never show me higher quality.” We suggest you select “always show me…” only if you have a fast Internet connection, otherwise you might find that videos don’t play as quickly or smoothly as you’re used to. Higher quality videos also have a link right below the video player which will allow you to select between the normal or higher quality settings.”
Keep in mind, it takes longer both to upload and download stuff. Bandwidth and storage capacity are of great importance. That’s why most people give preference to “YouTube model”. It’s expected that files size will be limited to 1 GB, and higher-definition videos can’t be longer that 10 minutes in length.
Anyway, relax and use what you have at the moment. Don’t rush things.

How it is important sometimes to be dead on time and a place. How many times do we become thoughtful and want to give back and change everything?! It’s easier to pull down than to build. Thus, some niggardly people accumulate trifles (without need to use them in the future), the others reckon they’ve got time to do that later.
As the saying goes, never put off till tomorrow what you can do today. It can’t be related to the People’s Republic of China. They always act on their authority violating freedom of speech (I mean mass media). By the way, it was issued a law according to which mass media can’t report on negative and offensive events and accidents. Don’t worry, be happy, Chinese people! Feng shui will help you!
Some years back, namely in 2001, popularity of the Internet made China to sharpen edge with this massive source of information. According to the People’s University of China, unconfirmed and inaccurate information on the web may mislead the Chinese people. Pull the Iron Curtain?
According to Roya Akhavan-Majid, the Chinese Communist party-state implemented the mass media reform in China, because historically analyses of change in mass media systems have tended to draw upon a ‘dissident vs. state’ framework, derived largely from the western historical experience.
Last Sunday China blocked internet users (fellow countrymen) from seeing YouTube.com. What’s holding matters? There were dozens of videos about protests in Tibet uploaded on this video-sharing site. Everything points to the fact that the communist government’s efforts control the media high and low. As compared with such Chinese web-sites as 56.com, youku.com and tudou.com, there were no protest scenes.
“Foreign Web sites run by news organizations and human rights groups are regularly blocked if they carry sensitive information. Operators of China-based online bulletin boards are required to monitor their content and enforce censorship.” (via)
What should we expect from the Chinese government? China banned YouTube, and suddenly remembered the laws it had put in place. It’s now announced that 25 video hosting sites need to be shut down and another 32 will be “punished.”
Yellow-faced nation has taken up the web area (specially e-business directories), being agents and middlemen. Repulses the USA?

Not long ago a very stunning team has created a TV experience on the web. I’m gonna talk about an eminent and ‘half-witted’ guy in hip-hop industry – musician and actor Ice Cube, who together with his permanent helpmeet (legendary DJ Pooh) launched the world’s first real-streaming TV network UVNTV.com (U View Network Television).
Surely this project couldn’t be realized without receiving a powerful backing from Microsoft (Besides, Microsoft is going to buy Yahoo to become even more popular search engine on the web holding Google back). The project operates by means of Silverlight platform, a cross-browser plug-in for delivering profound viewers experiences on the web. The whole point is that it’s the world’s first network broadcasting cable and satellite television.
Moreover, UVNTV.com is a unique real-time broadband social TV network offering such splashes like full screen DVD quality resolution, Dolby surround sound, ability to bookmark channels and shows, invite friends, channel widgets, statistical data. It’s an opportunity to show your talents, a home for amateur filmmakers and music makers, a place where fans meet with their idols online.
John Case, general manager, Developer Division, Microsoft Corp., says: “We are thrilled to work with Ice Cube and DJ Pooh, both whom have proven track records and have been at the forefront in music, film and television. We see UNVTV as a leading example of the changing landscape of how consumers experience entertainment, and how the industry is seeking new interactive platforms to better reach their target audiences.”
Ice Cube calls UVNTV a mix of YouTube and MySpace.
In conclusion it should be emphasized that interested parties predict a great future on the topic of the project. First off, they made use of user-generated content and created social video site to attain a targeting audience. Another one strong reason is that likewise living sites like Snoop Dogg’s Snoopadelic TV, fashion designer Christian Audigier’s Live TV and Ice Cube’s own Hip Hop 24/7 TV can’t compete with UVNTV.com.

It’s already a new year and I hope it’ll bring some more weird and wonderful innovations. There’s been loads of peculiar and quirky news in online video, game and web TV sphere over the last few weeks.

- Simultaneous Media Use Making TV Interactive. Online media is being consumed parallel to television and is often turning television into a richer interactive experience. Nearly 70% of users consume other media while watching TV.
- Rumor Mill: Revver All Revved Out. Live Universe is interested in stepping in and saving them from their impending demise. This rumor first appeared late last week on Contentinople. Live Universe runs the lesser known LiveVideo.com, and was founded by MySpace founder Brad Greenspan.
