Amvona is a media portal that offers a wide variety of images and videos. User-generated content means too much on the web when we have to do with free short-length video clips and superb users’ pictures. As far as I know it’s free. You just need to register to use all the lovely things.
By the way, Amvona.com is social website for purchasing pro studio equipment for photographers and those in the film industry. Products are divided into five main categories: lighting, tripods, monopods, backgrounds, support systems, and bags and cases to carry it all. Moreover, you can try to visit shotaddict.com that works likewise. There you’ll find photographers’ interviews and digital cameras reviews.
One of the main advantages is that Amvona launched a “revolutionary” new media search engine known as Discovery, as part of the Amvona 720 social shopping and social networking community. “Discover for yourself Amvona’s most beautiful and striking images using our new proprietary “Discovery” algorithm. The variables come from you - the user community.”
“We are very excited about our proprietary innovation,” said Greg Lemelson, amvona® 720° founder and CEO. “This is one of many new features coming through the pipeline, and I urge everyone to take the new Discovery ™ search engine for a test drive.”
Shoppers can upload their own videos and pics, they can blog or vlog, they can invite friends, send messages and vote. Amvon.com says: “Share your latest and greatest videos - daily entries become your video journal. Publicize yourself to the world or use it to keep in touch with friends and family. Connect with friends, you’ll see their Vlogs right under yours. Posting your video to Amvona Vlogs is easy and completely free.”

A brief glance at the past. eBaum’s World site was founded (as the source for the masses featuring media such as videos, Flash cartoons and web games) in 1998 by Eric Bauman.
According to paidContent, HandHeld Entertainment has purchased the popular video portal for $15 million in cash and another $2.5 million in stock. Current estimates suggest a possible total of $ 52.5 million in cash and stock over the next three years.
According to HandHeld, the user-generated site (the rest consider it as a stealing content portal tossing their watermarks on it, etc.) had about $5.2 million in revenue and $1.6 million net income in 2006.
Profy writes: “According to Michael Inouye, a research analyst with In-Stat, “HandHeld has instantly become one of the leaders in online video and user-generated content and is now rubbing shoulders with YouTube and the video networks of such companies as Yahoo!, Microsoft, AOL and Google.
Should we compare Yahoo!, Microsoft, AOL and Google with eBaum’s World and YouTube that are occasionally charged with stealing user-generated content or using illegal copyrighted material?!

“A human being is part of a whole, called by us the ‘Universe’, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” (Albert Einstein)
Out of sight science videos are of great importance. To start with, children and schoolboys (-girls) begin to understand laws of chance, electrolysis, Newton’s laws, etc. without having any idea why and how this or that laws are realized in nature.
If you want to start up, for example, your own science project, then you have to apply for information to special science video sharing sites or aggregators. Usually science video sites are broken down into the following categories:
- earth/space videos
- science safety
- life science videos
- engineering
- physical sciences
- math/computers/technology
- biological sciences
- teachers/schoolboys tips
- science video lectures
- medicine/physiology
By the way, I can give you a list of such sites, which can be useful so that you can start your foolproof experiments. Needless to say, we already noticed some video encyclopedias and video libraries that may turn out to be effective and good for your tests.
- BBC. The resource is catered especially for kids (5-11 ages)
- Sciencehack, a new science video aggregator, submit and download videos you like.
- 101science.com. NASA streaming videos allow to watch NASA-TV, watch chemistry and math videos. RooTV.com science video and much more links with contents like “Training Your Brain to Help Control Pain”.
- The Sourcebook for Teaching Science . Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Geoscience are at your service. You can watch science shows like PBS Science Listings and Discovery Channel Online.
- Vega - - Various recorded interviews with scientists and Nobel Laureates in the late 90’s.
- Livescience - - quite a useful science video aggregator. Full of everyday tips like “chocolate makes blood less likely to clump say Johns Hopkins researchers”.
- Science Fair and Invention Videos. For grades K-12 and teacher education.
- Discoveries and Breakthroughs Inside Science. The site provides 12 90-second reports (English, Spanish versions) for subscribing local TV newscasts all over the United States.
- Free Science and Video Lectures Online
It’s not a full list of science video websites, but to a greater or lesser extent just about any person will find them useful.
