It’s all about time and attention. Our cities are covered with ads, mailboxes are full of spam and we are always distracted. As a matter of fact, we can’t even watch videos, because they’re glued to the shining, colourful ads. Or can we?

quietube: Video without the distractions

To watch web videos without the comments and crap, just drag the button below to your browser’s bookmarks bar. On any of the supported video pages, click the bookmark button to watch in peace.

You can then make short URLs too, to send the quietube version to your friends. Easy as.

This is what the creators of Quietube say about their program. As a matter of fact, this is the first tool that lets you to put side all the buzz and concentrate on the video itself. Like everything genius the “Quietube” is very easy to use! You just have to drag the button from the official website to your bookmarks toolbar and once you go to YouTube for videos (Viddler & Vimeo are also supported) you just click the button “Quietube” and enjoy the lack of distractors.

Unfortunately, the program works with the listed websites only, but can we consider it to be a disadvantage? Just the YouTube itself IS something.

The strangest thing about Quietube is that after having enjoyed a couple of videos you get a feeling that you’re watching them on a poorly-designed blog. But this happened to me and you may have another attitube towards ads-free videos. The only thing that is out of question is the speed! It turned out that Quietube is a great time saver, because you do not have to load ads and different previews of related, featured and other videos you may not even need. So, if you need a clear, ads-free page for watching YouTube videos - Quietube’s just exactly what you need.

Some people give up imagining a couple of hours later and the only living creatures they share their creative ideas with are pets, others make it their jobs. Since our age is information age and the companies are willing to share their concept projects with customers, almost any video on how they see the future can be found on YouTube. So, relax and get ready to familiarize yourself with the future technologies.

FOLD/UNFOLD ASUS Notebook Concept Design:

Looks like this concept laptop was inspired by japanese origami. The idea is fascinating! Plus, ASUS promises it will have touch screen, so, by the final release of Windows 7, this dream machine might become real.

Massaud - Manned Cloud Airship Hotel:

How about circling the globe in a few days? Add a restaurant, a library, a lounge and a gym, 20 passenger rooms, terraces with panoramic windows, a spa and a bar room and we’re all in!

Ford SYNC:

Who’s man’s best friend? A dog? Ford? The last variant is more likely.

Nokia Morph:

This is the yummiest concept of all! No more comments on this one. Just watch the video below!

Did you ever expirence discomfort from a noisy TV-set at a bar? Did your remore run off batteries? Did you ever want to prevent your kids from watching TV too much? Did you want to comfortably enjoy your favourite shows in bed? Is your remote comfortable enough? Want an outstanding TV for your car? Then right now we’re going to improve your life!

This Easy-to-use device turns off the TV, gaming system or computer when your child’s designated viewing time is over. No more arguments! Now you can manage your kids’ screen time easily and effectively. The Screen Time Manager works with any electronic device—TV, computer monitor, video games and more. Just assign a daily or weekly limit for each child, as well as “no-use” time blocks (like late at night or right after school), when the device can’t be turned on at all. Each child has his or her own unique PIN to access the electronic. When time’s up, the attached electronic shuts off. Tamper-proof and safe for electronics and kids. Sets up easily in under five minutes and allows up to six individual user accounts.

Designer Jason Kline discovered people don’t use most of the buttons on today’s TV remotes. The complex array of function only confuses some and alienates others. Most people also only watch 12 different channels so why are we still using these ever elongating sticks? Kline suggests another way called the Licentia.

The Licentia is straight forward, no-nonsensical remote control consisting of 2 discs which can be spun or compressed in a number of gesture patterns to interact with your TV. Once you get the hang of it, channel hopping will become easier and faster. None of that cumbersome numeric keypad stuff.

Unfortunately it’s saucer-like shape doesn’t mean it comes with alien technology so you won’t be turning off neighboring TV’s at huge tech conferences.

Sick and tired of TV’s following you, everywhere? No matter where you go – the pub, a restaurant, a bar – there are TV sets everywhere. And even worse, half the time no-one’s even watching it.

This cool gadget, called “TV-B-Gone” lets you turn off almost any TV. The remote works by scrolling through all of the TV remote codes in its memory until it finds the matching one, starting with the most common TV models, and works with almost any TV.

How many times have you faced the problem of a bad working remote? Usually, the reason is dead batteries. So how about a wind-up remote?

The Wind-Up Remote Control is battery-free. It has a built-in generator, you have to wind using the dial on the wind up remote control – 30 full turns is enough to provide a full charge, which should last you about a week.

Whenever you think a bed is just furniture, you’re wrong. Hollandia International has proved that a bed can be the hi-tech and can provide the maximum comfort for anyone.

The full list of specs is this. The 32-inch Sony Bravia HDTV with an ambient lighting system to lessen eye strain. There’s also a five-DVD/CD changer, subwoofer, iPod dock and an integrated massage system with 12 massage programs.

Covered in white synthetic fiber, the bed has a fully-automated recliner system, and Hollandia telescopic head support. Future models will even connect up the massager to the sound system, so that you can be pummelled away to whatever music bangs your drum.

This DVD player can block some sun light if you are heading toward the sun and can really be a life saver to the driver. Why? Imagine, you’re headed across the country with your family to visit the in-laws in Omaha, and your kids are driving you nuts. A car DVD system allows you to pop in one of their favorite movies and have them entertained for hours while on the road.

This sun visor DVD featuring DVD movie playing, games, SD / MMC / U-Disk card reader, Car rear view input display also can play DVD, DVD Audio, DVD-R /W, HDVD, DVCD, DVIX, MP3, MP4, CD-R /W and VCD formats. The negative feature is that because of lacking enough secure fix, the DVD will flip as your car driving on unsmoothed roads.

What’s the point of getting out of bed anymore? We might as well be bedridden for the rest of our lives the way technology wants to improve our otherwise active lifestyles. Sheesh.

The Voice-Command Universal Remote Control. Need I say more? Fine. The latest offering from Hammacher Schlemmer works with your TV, VCR, DVR, DVD, cable box, and satellite by the sound of your voice. It comes pre-programmed with basic commands because, let’s face it, you’re too lazy to even do that. But what do you do when it gets lost in the couch cushions?

“A television set (usually called a television, TV set, or simply TV) is a device used to view television broadcasts, not to be confused with monitors, which are unable to independently tune into over-the-air broadcasts.” - via Wikipedia.

And finaly: concept TV’s!

<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1943" title="Again: is this a TV set?
This is it! This is where our time journey ends. I bet, 10 years from now the recent concepts will be as funny as old TV’s are nowadays.

Do you like the look of your remote controller? What if I told you that you can browse all your home theatre media files using an iPhone or any other web-enabled device? Do you like those tons of DVD’s lying everywhere and giving your living room a “messy” look? Is your home theatre interface friendly? Want to have your own one? Did you dream of being anywhere , going to a , browsing your listing of movies and hitting a button that will for you (lights dim to the appropriate level, masking system/lens adjust to the aspect ratio of the movie, etc…), then all you have to do is walk in and start watching. Then HTPC is the right solution for you!

A Home theater PC (HTPC) or media PC is a convergence device that combines the functions of a personal computer and a digital video recorder. It is suitable for connection to a TV or a TV-sized computer display and is often used as a digital photo, music, video player, TV receiver and digital video recorder. The general goal in a HTPC is usually to combine many or all components of a home theater setup into one box.

Here are the reasons for you to switch to Home Theatre PC:

You can choose every single part for your HTPC yourself! Everything from case to controlling devices is available for purchasing on the web. So you just have to set the budget, order the part and wait for them to arrive. Or there are always many ready-for-action devices being sold.

Unlimited storage! It’s up to you whether a 250Gb drive is sufficient or you want several drives over 1Tb.

Play your favorite games on big screen with superb sound! And you don’t have to leave your living room for that!

Set any interface! It’s up to you, whether you want your HTPC to run under Windows, Linux, Mac OS or whatever. You can set up any interface which would seem handy for you.

Great performance and multiple media functions. Put several TV-tuners into your HTPS if you feel like watching or recording several TV programs at a time.

Control it remotely within any distance! Any web-enable device would be enough to control your HTPC media library using web interface. So that you will be able to create a playlist and make it play even before you reach home.

Upgrade your HTPC any time! Add more hard drives or improve its performance by adding RAM or putting a better processor. It’s all like PC.

An HTPC will look great in your living room! There are so many cases available, that you can choose one that will be of the same color with your TV, table, carpet or whatever.

There are many guides on the web that would be of a great help for you. Here is the one I consider the best, though it is rather aged.

And once you got your HTPC ready don’t forget to visit our video section, where America funniest videos can be found.

I am a big fan of hi-tech stuff. And every time I see a cool newly-developed gadget I go wondering what will be next… All the research work done all over the world, all the new ideas that come to people’s minds lead to something new and sometimes even mind-blowing.

I mean, could you imagine such a thing as iPhone a couple years ago? Sure, we all love science fiction books and movies, but could you imagine holding it, having it for real? Here is a couple of things for you to dream about:

Video Glasses: Though I’d prefer an eye-integrated extra-high resolution display, this is also OK with me at the moment. These gadgets generally cost $200 to $400. They weigh 2 to 10 ounces, come with their own headphones and plug into portable video devices like iPods, DVD players, video game consoles, video cameras and even some cell phones. The only problem is the resolution of the image these glasses produce is not high enough. Here you can find a pretty aged, still a bit helpful review of top 10 video glasses. And I am looking forward to the newly developed SID:

Sony focused on the following four points: (1) A transmissivity of higher than 80%, which is high enough for use in dark places, (2) a color uniformity of Δu’v’ = 0.009 or lower, which is equivalent to that of TVs, and a luminance of higher than 2000cd/m2, which allows the use of see-through mode outdoors, (3) attaching the optical engine on the lateral side (temple) so that the thickness of the front portion (lens) can be reduced to less than 3mm like normal eyeglasses and (4) a weight of less than 80g to make the display comfortable to be worn for at least two hours.

To achieve these goals, Sony made efforts to simplify the device’s structure. And it adopted the structure and display method that use a holographic waveguide and an optical engine that is composed of an LED light source, a transmissive LCD panel, etc.

The light modulated by the transmissive LCD panel reaches the eyes via the holographic waveguide. The optical engine can be attached on the lateral side (temple) of the eyeglasses.

Holographic TV: Another dream of mine is being able to watch movies in 3D. Not wearing those “3D glasses” with one eye green and the other blue, but having a real-like picture in my living room. According to CNN, this could be real in 2020:

Dr Nasser Peyghambarian, chair of photonics and lasers at the university’s Optical Sciences department, told CNN that scientists have broken a barrier by making the first updatable three-dimensional displays with memory.

“This is a prerequisite for any type of moving holographic technology. The way it works presently is not suitable for 3D images,” he said.

The researchers produced displays that can be erased and rewritten in a matter of minutes.

To create television sets the images would need to be changing multiple times each second — but Peyghambarian is very optimistic this can happen.

He said the University of Arizona team, which is now ten-strong, has been working on advancing hologram technology since 1990 — so this is a major step forward. He believes that much of the difficulty in creating a holographic set has now been overcome.

“It took us a while to make that first breakthrough, but as soon as you have the first element of it working the rest often comes more rapidly,” he said. “What we are doing now is trying to make the model better. What we showed is just one color, what we are doing now is trying to use three colors. The original display was four inches by four inches and now we’re going for something at least as big as a computer screen.”

There are no more great barriers to overcome now, he said.

So this is the present state of the future TV-watching technologies. Keep wondering and be creative in your dreams!
