Hurricanes usually form on the areas of low air pressure where difference between clouds and warm water cause rotating wind streams. Hurricane have about 700 – 800 km in diameter with a so called eye (or center) up to 35 km. I wonder that weather condition in the center of a hurricane is very calm and nice while whirling streams around it hit everything on their way with tremendous force.

Hurricanes are usually accompanied with severe floods, which is the main reason of human deaths (about 90 per cent). It is essential for whirling winds to support at least 75 degrees of Fahrenheit to survive. That is why we can’t remember any hurricanes in cold waters of North America’s West Coast. The same reason stipulates the season for hurricanes to appear – late summer or early fall.

By the way, hurricanes can cause very positive consequences. Do you know, for example, that a hurricane once stopped a war? It was in 1888 when German fleet faced American one near the coasts of Samoa. The German troops were about to attack when a hurricane began and destroyed both fleets. Soldiers started to help each other, and the incident was forgotten.
It is a long tradition to name hurricanes. At first, they got saints’ names, then scientists began using female names, and only in 1978 man’s names were included as well. The most devastating hurricane in human’s history occurred in Bangladesh in 1970. Over a million lives were taken by wind and water.

SpaceShipOne Video You Have Never Seen

I suppose that after SWAT Training Video: Master the Art we have not watched anything really brutal and striking. It is high time to do that straight away, is not it? Have you ever seen SpaceShipOne videos or at least have heard about it? Anyway, I am here to tell a little bit about it.

SpaceShipOne is a high speed rocket-powered aircraft manufactured by Scaled Composites. It is the first aircraft funded privately without any government support. The total development costs of the aircraft are about $ 25 million. The first flight of it was an unmanned test that took place on the 20th May, 2003. Then goes a number of flights and tests that have helped to improve the aircraft’s work. There were 17 flights in all, during which only three pilots had a chance to handle the SpaceShipOne – Mike Melvill, Peter Siebold, and Brian Binnie. The last flight of the flying wonder took place on 4th October, 2004. After that the SpaceShipOne turned into a museum piece.

The SpaceShipOne won several prizes, among which there are the following ones: Ansari X PRIZE at the rate of $ 10 million for reaching 100 kilometer altitude twice within two weeks. Another achievement is Space Achievement Award 2005 from Space Foundation.
The SpaceShipOne features 15 m² of wing area, 5 m of length, 87 seconds of burn time, 3 people on board as maximum, 2,170 mph, 3,518 km/h of maximum speed, etc.

After its retirement in 2004 it was announced about SpaceShipTwo development that was supposed to be more powerful with better performance characteristics. The project was successful, and the result was unveiled on July 28th, 2009. But as early as in August, 2005 it was announce that if SpaceShipTwo was successful, the next version SpaceShipThree would be an orbital craft.

SWAT Training Video: Master the Art

Here we are together again but this time the topic I would like to offer is not so sublime and spiritual as the last one about Praise You in the Storm Official Video. Today I would prefer to watch how SWAT teams train. As for me, the videos are super interesting to talk about, and I hope you will support me. And here is the first SWAT training video to enjoy.

I consider their tactics and technical skills, which are known only to initiates, are very impressive. There is no doubt that only strong, determined and gifted men can master the art.

These are people who work in high risk situations such as counter sniper, hostage situations, barricaded suspects, suicidal subjects and many other cases when armed resistance is likely to be applied.

By the way, every SWAT team is deployed about 200 times a year. The team has a fixed structure; it comprises of a lieutenant, four sergeants and forty officers. Among them there is a sergeant and three officers who form a squad, in other words, they are responsible for equipment, trainings, vehicles, weapons and so on.

SWAT members train just twice a month or more if it is necessary. Besides, every officer has his own assignment that requires additional trainings. Plus cross trainings according to other specialties such as tactical medics, entry specialists, snipers, armored personnel carrier operators, and others. Every specialty means dominating additional complex of skills.

SWAT teams train hard using simulations and practice scenarios but they can hardly foretell what expects them in each real situation. So they have to be prepared for everything, which requires perfect self control, tenacity, strength of will and many other essential skills. Well, brave people are worth talking about them for hours. Some people seem to be attracting all the bad luck. Giving stupid answers, behaving in a dumb way – whatever. And sometimes it’s not a simple public ‘oops’ that can happen to anyone, it looks like some human beings forget how to think rationally. Just like this criminal.

Of course, you may say that he was too nervous to notice the sign “pull” or to think and try pulling instead of hammering his body into the door, but in his case I would call it the dumbest preparation for the robbery. Funny, though. Reminds me of a related episode in the movie “Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels”.
Here comes another one. While the fist criminal was simply scared and blinded by the fear, this one was already born dumb. No more comments.

OK, enough crime, let’s skip to more intellectual dumbs. Looks like this one really wanted to be a millionaire. Thanks God he didn’t get through the first question. Just look at the impression on his face when he gets it wrong – love that moment, makes me feel important with my ‘B’ in Physics in my 8th grade (that was long ago).
