We are proud to bring you some more weird and wonderful news. There’ve been loads of peculiar and quirky rumors and facts in online video and web TV sphere over the last few weeks.
The most disturbing events, I guess, are about China and the Olympic games. European countries together with the rest of the world will never come to a positive agreement for side pieces. It’s a pity.
Out of sight, presidential election and the electorate’s preferences have also become surprising for me. The USA people are in a mess at the moment. On the one hand, this patriarchal community can’t vote for a woman. On the other hand, Afro-Americans have also been out of favor for a long time. Funny thing is that Americans are in a dilemma.
It would be nice to vote for a future president online. At least be happy to have an opportunity to suggest your opinion, because in a number of countries it’s a rarity. GetMyVote presents a service due to which everyone has given a place to upload video, audio and text files that are directed at the candidates. The site offers users ways to interact with the commentaries by leaving comments, rating commentaries, tagging commentaries, and recommending commentaries.
By the way, one of the first online video services started uploading candidates’ speeches, YouTube, is now seeing 10 hours of video uploaded every minute. Owing to this user-generated content web-site Google made some more extra money. Sure thing, to be more competitive and spectacular on the web, Google decided to improve video quality on YouTube.
According to webtvwire.com, YouTube video integrated in to Google maps allowing companies to advertise on the web. First of all, it was done for businesses in the USA. This feature, which at first glance may not seem very important, could help many small companies to build their business using the power of the Web.
Talking about better and the best video quality, I can’t turn a deaf ear to pixel aspect ratio basics, explained on dvguru.com. Sitting at home and watching movies on a widescreen, willy-nilly one starts comparing video on TV and on computers, and camcorders. Learning the differences between formats will give you a better understanding of exactly how video is displayed.
And again scientists and statisticians bring us figures and facts about ourselves and our habits to watch videos. Do they really anxious of that or they have nothing to do? At the same time, it’s interesting to know in February Americans watched 10 billion online videos. And every year we spend more and more time watching videos (an average of 16 minutes and 12 seconds for the week ending April 12, 2008 as compared to 15 minutes and 14 seconds during the same week last year).
There are many talks about user-generated content all around the web. And it’s no by accident. Experts and analysts couldn’t have expressed the one opinion on user-generated content and its pros and cons. According to emarketer.com, the number of user-generated content creators will rise from 77 million in 2007 to 108 million in 2012.
Record and upload your own video, share it with the rest of the world, cause you’re not alone.

Not long ago I stumbled upon repulsive shoots and videos of amputees. On the one hand, it looks disgusting and weird due to their dissimilarity. But we should take into consideration that they’re live people who run into trouble.
On the other hand, amputee people are greatly in need of human help and understanding. I’ve got an acquaintance that has to move only by the use of an invalid carriage. I’m not sure whether such people need a pity or something like that.
The web area is full of various amputee online video clips. For what purposes do they upload the like videos? I can number some reasons why such videos are in demand:
- Amputees make themselves known as talented people
- These folks want to live a full life, not just to exist!
- Paralyzed people proved to be good sportsmen
Surfing the web and looking for amputee online video clips, a disabled man finds out that he/she is not hopeless. For example, video guides are catered to such people to learn how to live among the like throughout the world.
At devguide.org you’ll find out many related links. Amputee disabled women are capable of working with fitness programs for people with disabilities, invite to visit social clubs and support groups. They make extra money online at the expense of photo sets sale.
Google directory also presents a lot of links devoted to amputees. Different specialized web-sites are catered for amputees, amputee education and support groups. Promote the full participation of the disabled and the issue of accessibility. Loads of links.
The most important point, however, is that perverts are able to use these videos to suit their own ends. Which ones? Alas, I can’t answer this question.
Be careful sharing your private video collection on the web, because your face may become a part of one’s home video collection like porno clips.

When does Dexter season 3 start? Two months ago the writers started work on the new season. I can hardly wait. I blame the writers’ strike and producers who weren’t able to come to an agreement about terms for a long time. Thus, TV shows’ schedule had been shifted.
I’m already counting the days. As far as I’m concerned, TV seasons usually begin in autumn or winter. From hearsay Dexter season 3 may begin in September-October. For sure it won’t begin until September like Dexter season 2.
By the way, Michael C. Hall (Dexter) also played the role of a gay man in “Six Feet Under”, that’s why struggled to do everything at once. At present this TV show is in the can and Michael is able to find more time for “Dexter”.
In an interview with Greg Hernandez, Michael C. Hall shared his ideas on the role of Dexter, “It’s all been a challenge and one that I’ve welcomed as an actor,” Michael said. “I think some of the twists and turns that the character has taken this season have presented new challenges for me because as he experiences himself in more what could be called human ways, it’s my responsibility to honor the fact that he does remain, fundamentally, sociopathic, or compelled to kill.”
What should we expect from Dexter season 3? According to producer Clyde Philips, the third season represents Dexter’s adulthood, where Season 1 was his childhood and Season 2 - his adolescence. He’ll still use the Code of Harry, but will make it his own. Rita and Dexter’s romance will keep on. Nothing told about Deb’s life. Lt. LaGuerta continues to grieve. (via)
The show must go on! It’s like a fix for me. Dexter’s addicted to killing as well as I’m addicted to Dexter. What would you like to change in Dexter season 3? What do you want to happen next season? I believe season 3 will be as good as any season. I’m sure producers and writers will keep us in suspense.

This year spring happened to be warm and sunny. I beg your pardon! Fool’s Day also brought some surprises. I believe it’ll bring some more weird and wonderful news. There’ve been loads of peculiar and quirky rumors and facts in online video and web TV sphere over the last few weeks.
Sure thing, the People’s Republic of China brought bad news on the threshold of the summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Media services look concerned. Like-minded people, who are going to visit these games, will wear a badge with the word “Freedom”
As of developing countries like Afghanistan, Reporters Without Borders is shocked by a campaign being waged by the ministry of information and culture, the lower house of parliament and the Council of Ulemas against privately-owned TV stations, especially Tolo TV, for broadcasting footage of men and women dancing together.
What should we advice them in this case? Let it takes its course with a glance that Muslim countries live on their own. They haven’t come of age.
But let’s get back to the subject. What do you think of amateur video blogs and their close cooperation with professional bloggers and journalists on the web?
Journalists of traditional media have been actively discussing the future of paper newspapers and magazines. Surely, most of them predict that online content will prevail over other sources of information. The strength of the Internet as a source for news increases daily.
Moreover, in a number of countries professional journalists and reporters began to teach others how to change into probloggers, who are able to talk about cutting edge WEB trends, content, news, standards, blogging, techologies. For example, if you want be a freelance writeк or blogger, you should satisfy these requirements:
- Be enthusiastic and have a sense of humor!
- Be creative, critical and articulate in your English mother tongue.
- Have strong research/analysis skills.
- Your location is flexible.
- Generate 1 to 3 quality posts a day.
- Become a producer. Use a digital or video camera, record stuff and upload it on YouTube, Google, Revver, etc.
- Watch other videos on video-sharing web-sites like YouTube, download video and podcasts via a video iPod, mobile phone, etc.
Mark Glaser shares his ideas on media shift and change in media usage. It goes without saying, that there is a vivid move away from traditional media and toward online media. Web TV and online video sites with user-generated content whether intentionally or not do news. (via)
TV is a root of all evil. Nobody has to refuse its existence and influence on people’s minds. On the other side, web television is of a greater importance both for viewership and media bloggers as a source of information and entertainment.
Frank-Washkuch says that online magazines increase videos and readership. Many online publications - most of which are traditionally text-based - are increasingly employing video to escalate readership. Many general news Web sites, such as CNN.com, have sections exclusively dedicated to video footage, and politics Web site TalkingPointsMemo.com uses a video section to supplement its news coverage.
According to the new State of the News Media 2008, the main TV network news programs averaged 23.1 million viewers a night, a drop of 5%, or 1.2 million viewers compared with data from 2006. Over the past 25 years, the audience has fallen around 1 million per year.
Our habits and attitude toward online space is rapidly changing. There are new rules of media, according to which the audience knows more than the journalists. We see in what way amateurs cooperate with probloggers. Without dialogue there won’t be success on the web. Owners of amateur video blogs shouldn’t compete, but team up with probloggers. (via)
