The software called Babelgum provides TV content free to all users. Keep in mind, Babel Network started in 2005 in order to distribute TV shows and different kinds of video via the web using p2p.
Needless to say some folks compare this service with Joost.Tv. Do they compete? TV niches are currently popular as well as videos.
What is more, Babelgum is teaming up with Off the Fence to show 200 hours of non-fiction programming. Among them the videos on travel, natural history, science and health.
By the way, Off the Fence is a distribution and production company with a focus on indie film and television programming.
Babelgum says: “TV has the remote, with Babelgum you have the control. Watch for free broadcast-quality content on your PC anywhere, anytime. Create your own smart channels. Enjoy transparent interactive and social tools.”

Various videos (clips, tv shows) are about in our everyday life. Full length films are no exception. All of us want to have a free access to most of such stuff. On the one hand, it would become popular, but at the same time filmmakers would bear losses.
YouTube and Google taken together make up a very advantage-ground position giving an opportunity to users to watch and download videos for free.
You would be interested to know that recently hundreds of full-length movies and shows appeared on Google. Some months back YouTube also filled its site with new full length movies up.
All the videos presented on Google are available via a simple search on Google Video. You can also look through the report_pdf, which shows the full extent of the problem. Among them are:
- Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire (Part I)
- Spiderman
- Spiderman III
- Iceman: Confessions of a Hitman
- Farenheit 911
- The Fast & The Furious
- Saw III
- American History X

Needless to say in what way heroes and heroines of the “Jericho” left us several months ago. First off, CBS claimed that there are too many dramas and sad events on the channel and all over the world and web. And we said good-bye to all our hopes.
Fortunately for all of buffs of that TV series it was saved and recovered! They gave a new hope to us !
Jericho will be back mid-season next year with seven new episodes.
In the interim, CBS is working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences:
- Re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS (this summer)
- Streaming online episodes and clips (online)
- Releasing the first season to DVD on Sept. 25
- Continuing the story of Jericho in digital media
Now we just have to be in an agony of suspense. I hope the new seven episodes will be worthy of watching!

It’s not a secret anymore in what way advertisers and viewership meet their expectations. In spite of the fact the user-generated content takes on on the web, advertisers still prefer quality stuff to amateur material.
NBC Universal’s Jeff Zucker in his interview with the “Financial Times” emphasized a special significance of old media despite the fact that new media like YouTube and other popular video-sharing websites and TV channels grow stronger every day all over the web.
Jeff Zucker calls the digital media (new media) as the digital penny. “Because we don’t want to replace a business model that’s built on being paid dollars for viewers with a model where we’re being paid in cents for those viewers.”
PROS of professional content:
- advertising. Advertising companies turn to advantage through popular TV shows and movies. TV networks like NBC, FOX, Sci-Fic, etc. offer the real advantage to advertisers who want to send their message and deliver their products in an environment that is safe, conducive for their clients and with a real quality.
- high quality media. Professional casting, scenario, production, etc.
- availability. User-generated content won’t shoot a superb drama like House or CSI. These videos are on the web and on TV sets.
Recently NBC launched a new site. Keep in mind, NBC always supported Viacom and its policy concerning YouTube and Google. I can’t imagine how they want to earn money being just the next online video site?!

This week Rediff.com, the large Indian portal, which is essentially an Indian YouTube, announced the launch of a social content sharing platform - iShare, which allows users to share videos, music and photos.
The Rediff.com Chairman and CEO, Mr Ajit Balakrishnan, says, “We would like to get listed in India sometime but there is no immediate compulsion either from the point of view of cash mobilisation or Government regulation. At this point of time we are concentrating on business and operation, as the industry is highly competitive.”
iShare is a mixture of English text and Indian oriented content. Indian from all over the world will probably join this social networking and content sharing site.
By the way, Rediff.com joined hands with India-based satellite TV channel Zee TV to launch iShare.
