Megacool Brands Turn to YouTube

Wednesday, 30.05.2007

It’s no secret that YouTube gained success by means of sharing online video and various age groups which actively show interest in watching short video clips.

Make sure you remember how Joost.com signed ad deals with 32 well-known brands from all around the globe. Now next in turn is YouTube.

You would be interested to know the brands that give preference to YouTube. Among them are Gap, Victoria’s Secret, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Nike and Adidas.

Personally, I believe these brands contemplated in what way video sharing communities (including MySpace) attract viewers’ attention and interest.

What is more, in that way most companies are willing to suggest an idea to youngsters what is mega-cool and nifty.

“We’ve always had a hard time reaching young men and women on TV, except for MTV. Particularly teenagers — they’re not doing a ton of reading. The younger market was a bit diffused. They’re spending enormous amounts of time online,” said David Verklin, chief executive officer of Carat North America, the largest independent media services company.

Daily more and more teenagers grow into a habit to hang out on the web. They are very curious and savvy to find what they are looking for in the shortest possible time. And it must be said there are lots of companies which are interested in attaining young men via popular online services. Right now and right here.

If you catch a young consumer, it goes out virally into the community at speeds and sizes that boggle the imagination,” said Verklin.

I’m not quite sure but I reckon traditional media loses its prestige, and advertising agencies have been transferring ads from real world to virtual one.

Get DivX Stage6 Started and Create Your Own Video Platform

Wednesday, 30.05.2007

For most of us DivX is a video compression company. DivX is popular for its codecs that allowed high-quality videos to be compressed into small files.

Just somewhere a year ago DivX launched Stage6. Vast majority suggest this relatively recent novelty takes on such video sharing communities as YouTube, Metacafe, Revver, etc. It offers high quality web video in HD.

It must be mentioned YouTube currently is the number one place for video sharing despite its low-quality videos. DivX Stage6 is also a video sharing website which is a very different one.

Let’s consider these two vidoe platforms in details:

  • Aim

- DivX Stage is catered for folks who are crazy about good quality videos.

In terms of quality, your average person would be unlikely to tell the difference between a DVD and a DivX compressed file, even though it’s 7 to 10 times smaller”, Mark Lawson, Managing Director of DivX UK told Pocket-lint. “We’ve been able to do high-def as well. You can create a DivX file, and the [hi-def] quality is maintained.”

- Popular video sharing sites (like YouTube) use low-quality videos on average up to 10 Mb in size.

  • Place and way

- I don’t know for sure but practically everyone likes watching one or another video (TV shows, animes, films, etc.) on big screens. That’s why people prefer going to the movies. The videos on Stage6 can be downloaded and viewed on a number of consumer electronic devices.

- You turn to video sharing sites, so probably you like watching videos on iPods, mobile phones, etc. And you don’t care whether videos have low quality or not. You probably get more aesthetic pleasure acting this way. There is no comparison when it comes to video being seen on the big screen as this is what DivX Stage6 helps you do best in 1080p HD resolution.

  • Video player

- Video sharing sites have one thing in common. They use a simple flash video player that almost all web users can easy-to-use without any effort.

- The problem with DivX Stage6 for viewership is a need to install the DivX video player. Does this mean that these videos unable to watch instantly? Sure thing.

  • Embedding

DivX Stage6 offers this feature as well as YouTube, Revver, Metacafe, etc. And it’s easy-to-embed just about any video size (movies, TV shows) in your sites and blogs.

  • Revenue

There is no difference. Stage6 monetizes users’ video as well as Metacafe, Revver and YouTube do.

Perhaps the most important point, however, is the main services based on DivX Stage 6 platform:

  1. stage6.divx.com. It is a beta version already. High quality video up to 1080p HD. A growing community for content creators and video lovers to network. Karma shows your rating on the site. Videos in 16:9 widescreen ratio. A growing community of video enthusiasts and video producers. Not as many videos as a site like YouTube, but for the most part they are more professional.
  2. joox.net. It seems to be the next video aggregator. It’s a place to search for and post videos that are available on Stage6. There are several categories like anime, cartoons, Bollywood, comedies (stand up), documentaries, movies, movies with subtitles, movies without subtitles, music videos, and TV shows.

In short, it is your turn to decide what video sharing site to call in and what video quality you prefer better.

Embeddable Video Clips on CBS

Tuesday, 29.05.2007

Have you ever dreamt of embedding clips taken on the CBS? By the way, how often do you use embedded clips in your profiles, websites, blogs, etc.? More than enough.

It’s true to say that the CBS network thought of this app somehow suddenly. For most of us YouTube gives this opportunity to the audience for a long time. It’s quite natural, isn’t it?

“Today, we are taking the CBS Audience Network directly to the user,” said Quincy Smith, the president of CBS Interactive.

The CBS network has deals with AOL, Microsoft, CNET Networks, Comcast, Joost, Bebo, Brightcove, Netvibes, Sling Media and Veoh. Distribution deals with Amazon, Apple and Yahoo.

“In launching the CBS Audience Network we solidified our position as the most widely distributed professional content provider on the Web thanks to our great video distribution partners. We now want to empower our audience to be creative and deepen their experience with our content by allowing them to share and embed CBS-provided clips to their blogs, wikis, widgets, community sites and whatever else gets thrown our way,” added Quincy Smith.

New digital media rules in EU

Monday, 28.05.2007

The new rules “TV Without Frontiers” European ministers did approve concern web television and online video.

You would be interested to know that these rules imply less regulation, more advertising and better financing for European content.

According to these rules viewers will be infomed when, for example, a TV show takes place.

Moreover the rules are based on the country-of-origin principle. It means that broadcasters are governed by the rules of their home country. If you stay in the UK, you will beyond question find out their last news.

In my opinion, I feel these rules quite acceptable, because their promote better familiarization with online services and web television.

EU Media Commissioner Viviane Reding said the new legislation “brings Europe’s audiovisual policies into the 21st Century, providing a welcome shot in the arm to industry.”

Monday, 28.05.2007

Why do you surf the web? Want to know more? Get some useful tips on iAmplify.com. There is a number of ways how to make progress in poker, yoga, traveling, parenting, etc.

Personally, this source reminds me of Video Library and Video Encyclopedia. And it must be said iamplify.com is not a free online source in comparison with the preceding ones.

What you get, if you call in here?! Download short audio and video programs. They are really good, cause hosted by experts. First off, you are allowed to prelisten one or another product. It doesn’t refer to video files.

What is more, the programs start at $1.99 per month. Their media files are sold by diverse vendors online, including Google and Yahoo. After prelistening you may decide whether it worthy of buying or not.

They say: “iAmplify.com is a media company, powered by world class technology. We create downloadable audio and video programs to enrich your life. We provide direct access to leading celebrities, experts and media companies and our partnerships range from firms such as HarperCollins Publishers and Random House Audio to personalities such as Marianne Williamson, Marilu Henner, Phil Hellmuth and Kathy Smith.”
